Valentines Day?
Be my valentine? A question
annually asked
And one of dubious value,
as I review my past
But, what does it really mean
this vague question bold,
As it’s often asked
by those both young and old
It’s seeks a commitment
rather undefined in kind,
And one of questionable wisdom
at least in my own mind
It doesn’t ask for fidelity
nor favor, love or money
It really just asks you to be –
something rather odd and funny
All of this doesn’t seem
to me to be worthwhile,
Unless I suppose,
it generates a smile
But then I guess
the merchants need a reason,
To sell us something
in this off season
Well anyway, here goes –
would you – be my valentine?
And it that’s too heavy
could we just split a quart of wine?
