Time

It happens to us all
one day,
the silent years
- they slip away -

And on our life's
great center stage,
we're surprised to find we wear
- the face of age -

The once cherished loved ones
are memories now,
they've gently slipped away
we don't remember when or how

The little girl who called me Father
- it seems only yesterday -
tells me now I'm a Grandfather
- today -

And so now, in life's shadows
growing long
I smile quietly at the melody
- of my life's song -

                                                      this
