Lake Travis and you
The beauty of the Hill
Country
and a perfect Texas day,
Were blessed by your presence
but saddened you couldn’t stay
We watched the sunset
that evening
as it warmed the western skies,
The glow of the fading day
was reflected, in your eyes
Travis mirrored the
Live Oak trees
their silent vigil kept,
Sentinels on rocky cliffs,
twisted by time and wind swept
A boat drew a single
rippled line
slowly repainting the autumn scene,
Each ripple in multiplied symmetry,
like shadows from a dream
Your world was far
away
a city of glass and steel,
A life I’d left behind
a way I could no longer feel
But, that evening
there on Travis
as another day was through,
Life was a bit more gentle,
with – the evening, the wine and you –
Now you’re back in
your world
and I’m still here in mine,
But the softness of your memories
will linger thru all time
